Seasonal Clothing and Plastic Storage Boxes

Those of us who live in climates with moderate to drastic seasonal changes don’t have the luxury of keeping a single wardrobe. We have to have one set of clothes for the summer, another for the winter, and a mix-and-match option for the spring and autumn. Unless we have an excessive amount of drawer space, most of us are stuffing those seasonal clothing items wherever we can find space. Using storage boxes can ease the problem quite a bit.

 

Winter clothing is perhaps the worst due to its bulky nature. During the summer months we have to find a place for the heavy coats, long pants, sweaters, and long-sleeved shirts. Unfortunately, there’s only so much closet space. Plastic storage boxes are the ideal solution because they can be slid under a bed, placed in the back corner of the closet, or stacked out of the way in the loft or basement. They don’t tear or break down like cardboard boxes do, and they keep rodents and insects out; something that’s especially important when we’re talking about clothing.

 

An added bonus to storage boxes is the fact they protect against moisture as well. That means several things where garments are concerned. First of all, mould and mildew love dark, damp places. Let’s just say your only storage area is in a basement. Storing your seasonal clothing in cardboard is an open invitation for mould to find a new home. With plastic, it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever find mould inside a storage box.

 

Second, if you take the time to iron your garments and properly fold them prior to putting them away, they should be ready to wear in the winter, straight out of the box. How can you go wrong using plastic storage boxes to keep your seasonal clothing?
